One benefit of a whole home water filtration system?
One benefit is pure, alkaline water, on tap in your home. But what is alkaline water, and what are the benefits of alkaline water?
What is Alkaline Water?
To understand alkaline water, we need to talk about pH level.
Water that is a pH or 7 is considered neutral. Water below 7 is acidic. Water above 7 is alkaline. For comparison, coffee is a pH level of 5, and orange juice is a pH of 3.3.
EPA guidelines state the tap water must have a pH between 6.5 and 8.5. Most tap water falls below that, in the 4.3 to 5.3 range.
Commercial bottled water is processed to remove minerals. But many bottled waters have removed minerals that your body needs! That’s why many bottled waters are slightly acidic level on the pH scale.
How is Alkaline Water Produced?
When you have a whole home water filtration system, your water is processed to change the chemical makeup of the water, to add more hydrogen.
This process is called electrolysis. It’s an electrical process that frees up more hydrogen gas to dissolve in your water. That’s why alkaline water is also referred to as hydrogen water.
Benefits of Alkaline Water
Fitness buffs across the county love alkaline water!
The higher levels of hydrogen molecules in alkaline water help to neutralize free radicals in the body. This will:
- Improve metabolism
- Reduce acid in the bloodstream
- Slow aging
- Reduce bone loss
- Improve digestion
- Reduce inflammation (the root cause of many illnesses)
Brands of Alkaline Water
You can purchase bottled alkaline water or hydrogen water at the store. Many of them are referred to as wellness waters.
Popular brands include:
- Essentia Water Ionized Alkaline Bottled Water
- Perfect Hydration Alkaline Electrolyte Enhanced Water
- Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Naturally Alkaline Water
- Icelandic Glacial Natural Spring Alkaline Water
Buying Bottled Water? Here’s What You’re Spending.
If you buy bottled alkaline water, you’re spending too much!
Assume bottled water costs around $6.99 for a case of water, 24 bottles (16.9 fl. oz/bottle).
Each person in your home will drink around 2 liters of water per day. So the cost for a family of 4 would be $2.21 per gallon. Over the course of a year, that’s almost $2,500 spent on bottled water!
Or, you could install a whole home water filtration system. You’ll have alkaline, hydrogenated wellness water in your home all the time.
A whole home water filtration system is a solid investment that pays off. You’ll never have to buy bottled water again.
